Niyomugabo Moise

NIYOMUGABO Moise(Moses) is an experienced tour guide, boat captain, birdwatching guide, and tourism professional based in Karongi, Rwanda. He has been working as a boat captain since 2014 and as a professional tour guide since 2017, with a specialization in birdwatching, hiking, biking, boating, and eco-cultural tourism experiences.

Since 2019, Moise has developed particular expertise in birdwatching and nature interpretation, helping visitors discover the rich biodiversity, landscapes, islands, and cultural heritage of the Lake Kivu region.

He is the current President of Bwishyura Kivu Boat Cooperative (BKBC), a community-based cooperative that brings together boat captains and tourism service providers in Karongi District. Through BKBC, he promotes professional water transport, tourism services, community empowerment, and cooperative development.

Moise is also actively involved in VISIT KIVU, a tourism initiative founded by BKBC to promote sustainable and responsible tourism around Lake Kivu. Through VISIT KIVU, he helps design and guide authentic experiences including Lake Kivu island exploration, birdwatching, hiking, biking, cultural experiences, boat cruises, and community-based tourism activities.

Passionate about environmental conservation, cultural and heritage preservation, and community empowerment initiatives, Moise believes that tourism should create meaningful experiences for visitors while generating lasting benefits for local communities.
