Where the money from your booking actually goes
Cooperative ownership means the income from a tour is split rather than banked. Here is how a single booking is divided.

People ask this more often than we expected, and it is a fair question to ask of anything calling itself community tourism.
The split
A booking pays the crew and the guide first, then fuel and boat maintenance, then a share to the cooperative fund that pays for training and equipment.
What the fund does
It has bought life jackets, paid for first-aid certification, and covers the shoreline clean-ups that no one else was funding.
